Another Perfect Day in Des Moines

Where to Eat...

Breakfast

If you are staying near downtown then Baby Boomers is a must for breakfast. They have the best hashbrowns and the most wonderful pancakes!

Lunch

If you are looking for something out of the ordinary in the midwest, I would recommend that you try Myabi 9 in the East Village area. The box lunch provides a little sushi, some rice, tempura vegetables and a salad along with your choice of chicken, salmon or beef.

Dinner

One of my favorite places to dine is J. Benjamin's. It is a small neighborhood place that has some of the best nightly specials in the area. If you go on a Friday night you may even be treated to live music.

What to Do...

Morning

After breakfast at Baby Boomer's you should take a walk toward the capitol and enjoy the beautiful gardens west of the building. From the steps of the capitol you have a fabulous view of downtown Des Moines.

Afternoon

Be sure to catch an afternoon I-Cubs game if they are in town. Because they are the farm team for the Chicago Cubs - you just might catch a major league player that is recuperating. Either way, you will enjoy the Principal Park and an good baseball game.

Evening

After dinner, catch a movie at the Fleur Cinema. Even with a limited number of films to choose from, you are sure to find one that will be interesting and thought-provoking. Instead of popcorn, you could enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail during the movie.

Late Night

The Court Avenue district is always a great place when you are looking for an evening of entertainment. Many of the restaurants have live music and if you don't enjoy one establishment, there is another to try right next door.

Comments

Des Moines may very well be one very surprising golden nugget within the midwest. It is full of fun and lots of activities.
